General services of the Adult Services department at the Rice Lake Public Library feature books in hard cover and paperback, magazines, books-on-CD/tape for adults, many large print books, magazines and newspapers, a reference department, and an inter-library loan service with other libraries in Wisconsin. Special services include over ten public access computers, a fax machine, a photocopier, a typewriter, a microfilm reader-printer, microfilms of several county and city newspapers, videos and DVDs, state and federal tax forms, and two public meeting rooms available by reservation.
In addition to materials to rent and borrow, the library has an active calendar. There is a book club meeting on the first Thursday of each month. The PageTurners Book Club is sponsored by the local Friends of the Library. There is also biweekly book delivery to local nursing homes. In addition, special events are planned on monthly and seasonal basis and include author events, game nights, and presentations on interesting topics.
Rice Lake, population 8,312, is Barron County’s largest community. It is a thriving community with a strong industrial base. Rice Lake is a large and growing regional trade and commerce center. Rice Lake has excellent educational facilities including the University of Wisconsin Barron County Campus and the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
